COVID-19 Concerns: The Money Machine Of College Football

According to NCES, tuition and fees account for only 20% of revenues at most public institutions. The Detroit Free Press reports that the University of Michigan, allegedly the biggest budget in the Big 10, was projecting $196.3 million in revenues for 2020. Despite record revenues of $210 million last year, the OSU athletic department actually lost money, according to reports from USA TODAY. The Big 10 Buckeyes are rated #5 on the Forbes list of college football’s most valuable teams 2019, behind #3 rated Michigan. It seems highly likely that college football will follow a similar path.
