COVID-19 daily briefing: Egypt reports 639 new cases, 41 deaths

REUTERS/Fabrizio Bensch -/File PhotoCAIRO - 12 March 2020: The Egyptian Health Ministry announced on Thursday that 639 new coronavirus cases were detected over the past 24 hours, upping the total number of confirmed cases to 189,000. Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 41 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 11,169. As many as 505 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 145,923 so far, the spokesman said. The ministry then launched a website in order for citizens over 18 years old to register to receive the vaccine.
