Robyn, Fiadh and Rian were the most popular names for babies born during the festive period last year, the Central Statistics Office has revealed. Breaking down the figures for babies born in December 2024, it said there were seven more babies born on Christmas Day 2024 than on the same day in 2023 before revealing a break down of the top baby names by gender. Nollaig, a unisex name and the Irish word for Christmas, came just inside the top 900 most popular girls’ names in 2024 with three. On Christmas day, itself, the CSO does not release statistics for the names chosen for babies born on December 25. Numbers-wise, however, it could say that 39 girls and 43 boys were born on Christmas Day 2024.
