MALACCA: Taxi drivers here, especially those plying tourist spots, are complaining that Uber and GrabCar drivers are on the increase, taking away their business. Malacca Taxi and Tourist Drivers Association chairman Zulkiflie Baharom said these private cars were brazenly ferrying passengers from the main transportation hub of Malacca Sentral. He said there had been a few occasions when cabbies confronted these drivers at Bandar Hilir and Dataran Pahlawan. These drivers, claimed Zulkiflie, were out to make a quick buck without considering the safety of their passengers. “We take this seriously and we hope taxi drivers will provide us with information, so that we can act against these drivers,” he said.
