The current state of relations between Canada and China are likely more fraught than they have ever been. With a number of issues that seemed to stem from the Canadian arrest of Meng Wanzhou and the subsequent detaining and imprisonment of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, that spat has coloured all interactions between the countries since. To discuss these issues and how they are affecting Chinese Canadians, we are joined by Joanna Chiu, a Vancouver-based reporter for the Star who covers Canada-China relations and current affairs. She was previously a correspondent based in China for European media.
