Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter, Canada’s oldest rape crisis centre, has been stripped of city funding after refusing to rescind its policy of only serving female-born women. Trans women are women and sex work is work. I can’t support orgs who exclude them, so I won’t be supporting city funding for #Vancouver Rape Relief. Nothing but respect for Vancouver Rape Relief for withstanding years and years of targeting by males. Court of Appeals ultimately ruled in favour of Vancouver Rape Relief, and a further appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada was denied.
