Canadian 'spy' detained by China returns home

A Canadian who was detained in China for two years over accusations of spying has been freed and has returned to Canada. China’s official Xinhua news agency has previously reported that authorities found evidence implicating Garratt in accepting tasks from Canadian espionage agencies to gather intelligence in China. His release comes just over a week after Justin Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, visited China.
