The U.S. Senate confirmed Ketanji Brown Jackson as a Supreme Court justice on Thursday, making her the first Black woman to hold the position. Jackson, who previously spent nine years as a federal appeals court judge, will replace Justice Stephen Breyer when he retires this summer. U.S. President Joe Biden nominated Jackson to the Supreme Court in February. This week, Jackson was approved by Senate in a 53-47 vote. Jackson will join Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Amy Coney Barrett, making it the first Supreme Court in history to have four female justices.
