Canadiens sign Paul Byron to a four-year contract extension

The Canadiens had the day off on Sunday, which gave Paul Byron time to celebrate a new contract with his family. The club announced Sunday morning that Byron has agreed to a four-year contract extension that will take him through the 2022-23 season with an average salary of US$3.4 million. The 29-year-old forward is heading into the final season of a three-year, US$3.5-million contract with an average annual salary of $1.166 million. The Canadiens claimed Byron off waivers from the Calgary Flames before the start of the 2015-16 season. But we have an excellent training staff here, they did an incredible job the last years getting me ready for games.
