Cancer survivor joins first all-civilian space mission to raise money for children's hospital

Arceneaux will be one of four crew members on the world's first all-civilian mission to space, dubbed Inspiration4. Arceneaux will take to the skies alongside two contest winners and flight commander Jared Isaacman – a 38-year-old billionaire who is paying for the mission and fundraising for US children’s hospital St Jude’s. Arceneaux was diagnosed with bone cancer of her left femur at the age of 10, and she received chemotherapy treatment at St Jude, the hospital said in a statement online. He purchased the flight as a charity fundraiser for the children’s hospital, and bought a Super Bowl ad to publicise the mission. Details of the flight are still being ironed out, including who the other two people going on the mission are.
