Christchurch's stadium, a film studio at Templeton and key roadworks are among major projects on a billion-dollar wish list for Government funding to revitalise Canterbury's economy after the coronavirus lockdown. Last month the Government announced it would fast-track spending on major infrastructure projects as part of nationwide efforts to kickstart the country's economy. Canterbury faces stiff competition from other areas; Wellington City Council submitted a $1.3billion-plus list of projects to the Government on Tuesday, while Auckland City Council has put forward 73 projects with a price tag of over $2b. An infrastructure industry reference group, helped by Crown Infrastructure Partners, will now put projects proposed for funding to ministers.
