Ben Stokes has influenced many games during his stellar career. As everyone knows, he shaped the World Cup final in England’s favour last summer and almost singlehandedly won an Ashes match at Headingley with perhaps the most accomplished innings ever played at Test level, but his performance over the past five days at Newlands is fit to rank with the best. There is obviously something about this ground that inspires him — mind you, it would be hard not to be inspired by playing in the shadow of Table Mountain — for this is the second time in two Tests here that he has played the role of Cape Crusader.
