Car ablaze on Christchurch Southern MotorwayGEORGE HEARD/STUFF Emergency services on the Christchurch Southern Motorway, where a Subaru Legacy caught fire on Wednesday night. Firefighters have extinguished the flames after a car was ablaze on Christchurch's southern motorway. Fire Service spokesman Andrew Norris said they received "lots of calls" to the fire, which was on the southbound lane between Barrington St and Curletts Rd. When firefighters arrived they found the Subaru Legacy "well involved", Norris said. The car was now at the side of the road.
