In view of local electricity generation contributing most carbon emission, CarbonCare InnoLab (CCIL) has implemented the “Jockey Club SolarCare Programme” (the Programme), with a grant of HKD24 million from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, supporting non-profit organisations and institutions to install solar panels and thus reap the environmental, financial and social benefits of solar energy. It is projected that a total of HK$1 million will be rebated to our SolarCare Partners per year by selling the solar electricity it generated to CLP or Hong Kong Electric. The proceed of June is equivalent to a 40 per cent rebate of the electricity tariff for the centre housing 180 personnel. “The Programme also inspires us to develop a certificate programme for solar electricity technician which is subject to the funding approval from the Employment Retraining Board. We are also planning to open our solar electricity generating system to schools and community groups for visit.”Outward Bound Hong Kong has 342 panels installed.
