(CNN) Carol Burnett has filed for legal guardianship of her teen grandson, whom she alleges has long been living in an "unstable, unpredictable, and unhealthy" environment. Burnett and her husband of nearly 20 years, Brian Miller, recently filed with Los Angeles County Superior Court to be temporary guardians. The teen is the son of Burnett's daughter, Erin Hamilton. CNN is not naming the youth because he is a minor. In legal documents obtained by CNN, the couple alleges that "Throughout her adult life, and since [her son's] birth, Erin has suffered from severe substance abuse and addiction issues."
