Buffalo Grove police responded about 9:33 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 to a report of possible shots fired, and a catalytic converter theft in progress in the block of 800 Trace Drive in Buffalo Grove. When police arrived, they learned that no shots were fired, but that one of three offenders pointed a weapon at a man who was standing on his balcony. The offender’s gun had an extended magazine, according to a third-party report report. Police are investigating whether the handgun was modified with an illegal Autosear switch that converts the gun into an automatic weapon (like a machine gun).
