Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific has announced it will begin non-stop service to Cape Town, South Africa, later this year. Cathay PacificBetween November 13, 2018 and February 18, 2019, Cathay Pacific will fly non-stop between Hong Kong and Cape Town three times weekly using one of its new Airbus A350-900 next-generation jets on the route. Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Officer Rupert Hogg said: “We are very pleased to be able to expand our services in Africa, a booming aviation market,” said Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Officer Rupert Hogg of the move. “We are thrilled that Cathay Pacific is launching a direct flight to Cape Town,” said Western Cape Minister of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde. Cathay Pacific took delivery of its first A350-900 out of a total order of 46 for various versions of the jet in May 2016.
