Cathay Pacific is predicting a recovery in the second half of next year, assuming coronavirus vaccines being developed prove to be effective and are widely used in key markets by summer. Cathay Pacific Airways said today it expects a recovery in the second half of next year and passenger capacity will remain below 50 percent for 2021. Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon flew just 47,061 passengers last month, when the airline depended on student travel and mainland transit passengers. September passenger traffic represented a 98.1 percent drop from the year before. Demand from the Chinese mainland has gradually increased since the lifting of the ban in Hong Kong of ex-Chinese mainland transit travel in mid-August.
