The Supreme Court, today, modified its earlier order and directed Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery water till September 20. Karnataka CM has called an emergency Cabinet meet tomorrow at 11:30am to discuss the Cauvery issue amid increasing number of violent incidents in southern Karnataka. Section 144 has been imposed by the Bengaluru Police in the wake of violent incidents. Most schools and educational institutes across Bengaluru shut down early today due to the unrest in the city. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah wrote to Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa, seeking adequate safety/protection to Kannadigas in Tamil Nadu.
