It’s been a magical start to soccer life for Cavalry FC. So much so that after just six games in the inaugural Canadian Premier League season, Calgary’s professional soccer squad is already on the brink of earning the spring season title. As in two wins, beginning with Wednesday’s away game against the HFX Wanderers FC (4 p.m., OneSoccer.ca), and Cavalry FC will capture the spring season honour which would send them onward as one of two finalists in the CPL’s championship series following the fall season. Hamilton’s Forge FC (5-2-1) is the only team of the six other CPL sides with a realistic chance to catch Cavalry FC for the spring season banner. A win Wednesday over the host Wanderers (2-3-1) in Halifax means the Cavs would only need to win one of their last three tilts to earn the spring season title.
