Cebu City reports fewer quarantine violators

CEBU CITY — The number of violators of quarantine rules here has declined in recent weeks. According to city government data, 1,525 individuals were accosted for violating quarantine rules from Aug. 1 to 15. While some areas in the country on general community quarantine have stopped requiring quarantine passes, Mayor Edgar Labella has kept the rule in a bid to control the movement of people. From Aug. 16 to 23, at least 36 people were caught violating the curfew while 67 had no quarantine passes. A city ordinance punishes quarantine violators with fines of P500 for the first offense, P1,000 for the second and P3,000 for the third offense.
