Thanks to a collaboration between several companies and people dedicated to education, Rainbow ECDC in Masiphumelele opened five years ago in April. Similarly, Zaida van der Berg, deputy chief education specialist at the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), expressed the importance of providing security and education to the future leaders. Joubert said Rainbow ECDC was the 30th brick-and-mortar corporate social investment project they had completed in the Western Cape. Desmond Murphy, a member of the board at Rainbow ECDC, says they still face challenges of commitment from the residents.
