MINUSCA said it continues to work with Central African authorities to help restore stability in this part of the country. Despite the 2019 Political Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in the Central African Republic, insecurity persists in several regions, particularly in the east and southeast where armed groups continue to threaten civilians. Against this backdrop, MINUSCA regularly supports local authorities in the gradual redeployment of national armed forces to affected areas. The mission has been deployed in the country since 2014 under a mandate from the United Nations Security Council.
