The FCC won't be taking up President Trump's threat to challenge the network's broadcast license ― part of his ever-more-extreme war on critical coverage, or what he calls "fake news." The conservative National Review slammed Trump, saying his comments on broadcast licenses combined "the hallmark elements of the president’s political style: ignorance, stupidity, pettiness and malice." At what point, Trump asked, is it appropriate to challenge NBC's license? The networks don't have licenses; only individual television stations do. And on Tuesday, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, a Republican, made himself clear to the president: He's not challenging any licenses over content the president finds unpleasant.
