Newly-qualified school teacher Clara McDonald has been appointed Wexford County Champion for this year's VHI Virtual Women’s Mini-Marathon taking place on September 19. Clara, from Barntown, who started her first teaching job in the CBS primary school school in Wexford town last week, is running the mini-marathon to raise funds for Barrettstown, the charity providing camps and programmes for children with a serious illness and their families. Clara took up running for the first time during lockdown and is taking part in the VHI women’s mini-marathon for the first time. Participants can track their race and log their time for the 10km event via the app which will be open from Friday, September 17 and Sunday September 19 . The theme of this year’s event is #PowerOfMe which recognises the difference that one person, like Clara, can make in the lives of others.
