Changes in Sudan will not Affect GERD - Ethiopian MinistryApril 23, 2019 (Ezega.com) -- The Ethiopian Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy said today that it is not concerned with the change taking place in Sudan, according to Ethiopian News Agency report. The government change in Sudan will not affect the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), said the ministry in a press conference. The GERD was designed not to harm downstream countries, according to the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy. The State Minister for Water, Irrigation and Energy, Frehiwot Woldesenbet, said “We are constructing the dam based on win-win situation, without taking the advantage of any country. Ethiopia has welcomed the change although cautiously, supporting both the Sudanese people and the military to come to stability.
