Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Judge Mohammad Ziaur Rahman announced the verdict on Sunday. The convict, Kamrul Islam, 43, was present in court when the verdict was delivered. He was also fined Tk 100,000 and will have to spend an additional three years behind bars if he fails to pay. On Aug 3, 2015, Kamrul raped a blind woman named Zerina Khatun after breaking into her home in the Rehaichar-Tikrampur area. Locals heard the screams and rushed to her defence, but Kamrul managed to flee, the case dossier said.
