Charles Hudon has reportedly turned down a qualifying contract offer from the Canadiens. Chantal Machabée of RDS reported on Twitter Tuesday that Hudon, who can become a restricted free agent on July 1, refused the contract offer made by Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin. Hudon, 24, earned US$650,000 this past season in the final year of a two-year contract worth US$1.3 million. He played only 32 games this season, posting 3-2-5 totals and a minus-9 while averaging 11:40 of ice time. The Canadiens selected Hudon in the fifth round (122nd overall) at the 2012 NHL Draft and in 110 career games with the team he posted 13-26-39 totals.
