Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino could have sold Maatsen for just under £32million during the summer, but he may leave for free once his current contract expires in June. A series of successful loan spells finally convinced Chelsea bosses to give Maatsen his shot at Stamford Bridge this season. Building on his solitary senior Blues appearance prior to this campaign, Maatsen has already racked up six appearances in the Premier League in 2023/24. Pochettino may wish to give the former PSV Eindhoven academy star more senior minutes in an effort to fend off interest.
