The Gunners are set to sign White, 23, after agreeing a £50million transfer deal with Premier League rivals Brighton. White was one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League last season, with his form earning him a place in England’s squad for Euro 2020. Mikel Arteta is set to welcome White to the Emirates but Murphy has expressed his ‘surprise’ that Chelsea or Manchester United did not move for the defender. ‘If I’m Ben White, I’m going to Arsenal, because they are the ones after me and it’s a step up, it’s a huge club.
