The blaze took hold in the popular attraction's Monsoon Forest habitat, which houses Sumatran orangutans, macaques and crocodiles. He wrote: "Such a shame, huge fire at Chester Zoo. A Chester Zoo spokesperson earlier said: "We can confirm that the fire brigade is attending a fire in our Monsoon Forest habitat. Chester Zoo was founded by the Mottershead family. The cause of the blaze remains unclear at this time, although one visitor in the Monsoon Forest claimed it was an "electrical fire".
