The Maharashtra government has planned to celebrate the Chetak festival —a market for the sale of horses — on a large scale at Sarangkheda in north Maharashtra. According to Jaykumar Rawal, Maharashtra tourism minister, since ancient times the horse market at Sarangkheda in Nandurbar, situated on the banks of Tapi river, has been popular. We have decided to take this horse market to an international level by turning it into a big festival. To make this Chetak Festival more interesting and entertaining, the tourism department has decided to start the allied shows and exhibition," said tourism minister. Rawal said that to boost tourism in Maharashtra, they are working on various proposals.
