An elected member of the Chhatra League-supported Ducsu panel, Rakibul Hasan Rakib—also Chhatra League's former leader—confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune. The protest for a new election was announced on Monday, after candidates of different panels in the election boycotted the polls due to irregularities. The major cases of irregularities occurred at Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall, a few minutes before polls were scheduled to open. Around 11:30am, voting at Ruqayyah Hall was suspended after students clamoured against vote rigging, but resumed at 3pm.
