Dublin city councillors have given their unanimous support to give Dr Tony Holohan the city's top honour. Speaking at Dublin City Council's monthly meeting at the Mansion House this evening, Ms Chu said Dr Holohan has made an "enormous contribution to the city of Dublin and this State during Covid 19 and through this award we’d like to honour all front line workers," she said. Dr Holohan will join sporting legends such as former Dublin manager Jim Gavin, rugby international Brian O’Driscoll and 90s Ireland football manager Jack Charlton in receiving the honour. Widespread tributes were paid to Mr Holohan across the public and political divide for his work on tackling the coronavirus pandemic. The Chief Medical Officer chaired the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) which led the charge in the fight against Covid-19.
