Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and firefighters and paramedics from Beach Park Fire Department resonded about 9:20 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 to a report of a child pedestrian hit by an SUV on Sheridan Road north of Chaney Avenue in Beach Park. Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics discovered that a 7 year-old boy and his dog had been hit by a Ford Explorer SUV. Initial investigation indicates a silver 2005 Ford Explorer driven by a 29-year-old female from Beach Park was traveling northbound on Sheridan Road north of Chaney Avenue in Beach Park. A 7-year-old male and dog, both of whom were also from Beach Park, entered the roadway on Sheridan Road north of Chaney Avenue and were struck by the northbound Ford Explorer. The Speed Limit on Sheridan Road at the crash scene is 40 MPH according to images on Google Maps Street View.
