The enhanced child tax credit, which was created as part of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package in March, is in effect only for 2021. More low-income parents are eligible for the child tax credit because the March coronavirus relief package made it fully refundable. That’s an increase from the regular child tax credit of up to $2,000 for each child up to age 17.
