Zookeepers guided them through the concrete cellar into the enclosure’s shell to find two traumatised chimpanzees, burnt in the New Year’s Eve fire that killed more than 30 other primates. The chimps Bally, 46, and her son Limbo, 27, have become celebrities after surviving the blaze that killed all the other creatures in the monkey house, including Charly, the temperamental father who liked to throw his waste at visitors. Bally the chimp was found in a cellar having survived the blazeZoo officials said that it was a miracle they survived the fire caused by an illegal sky lantern released as part of the New Year celebrations.
