China Eastern Airlines' Net Loss Widened in 2021


By Ronnie HaruiChina Eastern Airlines Corp.'s net loss widened 3.2% in 2021 from a year earlier, mainly owing to higher operating expenses affected by the rise in international oil prices. Net loss widened to 12.21 billion yuan ($1.92 billion) in 2021 from CNY11.84 billion in 2020, the airline said late Wednesday. Revenue rose to CNY67.13 billion from CNY58.73 billion. Among initiatives for 2022, China Eastern Airlines said it plans to fully implement its safety operations, improve operation efficiency and continue to enhance reform and innovation, the company said.
