BEIJING: China on Wednesday appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in combatting terrorism in the country and reiterated its support for the National Action Plan (NAP) against all forms of terrorism. This was stated in a joint statement issued by both countries following a meeting between China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who is currently on an official visit to China. “The Chinese side called on the international community to view Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and contributions in an objective and fair manner, and to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with Pakistan,” the joint statement read. The statement added that China appreciates Pakistan’s “constructive role in international and regional issues”. Pakistan and China agreed to keep close communication and collaboration on multilateral forums, including the UN, multilateral financial institutions, the SCO and SAARC.
