Froome, 34, has been in intensive care after his high-speed training incident left him with multiple fractures, including a broken femur. The severity of his injuries caused him to be airlifted to nearby St Etienne University Hospital and he will now miss this year's Tour de France. The four-time Tour de France winner has now spoken for the first time since the crash and thanked those who have sent well-wishes. Froome said: “Firstly, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has sent their best wishes to me since the crash. Froome's crash took place during a practice session ahead of stage four of the Criterium du Dauphine, one of the final events before the Tour de France.
