The Gelita gelatine factory on Connal St in Woolston is at the centre of fresh complaints from residents, prompting the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board to write to the German-owned company. In 2015, after years of foul odour complaints, the factory was granted a change to its air-discharge permit, allowing it to release offensive odours for two years while it fixed the smell problems.
