IN Joe Quaid’s episode of Laochra Gael, Quaid and his first cousin, Nickie, were filmed together speaking about Joe’s father and Nickie’s grandfather, Jim and Jack Quaid, the twin brothers that left such an indelible mark on the history of Limerick hurling that their lineage has now extended an astonishing eight decades. That lineage first began in the 1950s when the twins won an All-Ireland Junior title with Limerick in 1954 before securing a Munster senior title the following year with the famed ‘Mackey’s Greyhounds’.
