Churches pray against spread of disease

- Kebbi organises training for health workers, Benue unveils response committeeChurches in Lagos State yesterday prayed against the spread of the disease in the country. Despite concerns that the virus is being spread through like shaking of hands and sharing utensils and other materials, some Churches still use few cups to serve the Holy Communion while the priests used their bare hands to hand over the consecrated bread to communicants. For instance, at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, The Guardian observed that the practice was common in most unorthodox Churches, but the administration of the Holy Communion was different in most Pentecostal Churches. Besides, following the outbreak of Coronavirus and Lassa fever in Nigeria, the Kebbi State Government has organised training for all health workers in Birnin Kebbi. Meanwhile, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has set up an Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus (COVID-19) to monitor, supervise and coordinate response to the disease.
