PhotoPeter Martins had already mapped out most of New York City Ballet’s next season before he retired under pressure this winter after three decades at the company’s helm. But the new season, announced on Monday, also reflects both the tastes and the learning curve of the interim team that has been running the company since his departure. The new team chose two of the six premieres City Ballet will present in the 2018-19 season, reaching beyond the traditional ballet world to commission works by Kyle Abraham and Emma Portner. And they learned to use analytic tools — think Moneyball, but for ballet — which forecast how well each dance will sell. The four took over in December while the company investigated allegations of abuse and harassment against Mr. Martins, who retired in January.
