Kuchipudi underwent tremendous transformations in its craft and content thanks to pathbreaking contributions of the late legend Vempatti Chinnasatyam and his disciples. Of them, Yashoda Thakore has immersed herself not only in Kuchipudi but in its counter part Vilasininatyam too. Yashoda then moved on to an Annamacharya composition, in worship of Lord Venkiteswara. The dancer expressed the Nayika’s longing for the Lord, pangs of separation and her dreams of a dalliance. The next item, again a composition of Annamacharya, centred on Lord Venkiteswara as Nayaka and Alamelumanka as Nayika.
