AUSTRIA’S new coalition government, which includes the far-right Freedom Party, was sworn in on Monday as demonstrators protested outside. Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, a member of the Green Party, presided over the ceremony on Monday at Vienna’s Hofburg Palace. The vice-Chancellor is Heinz Christian Strache, 48, a former dental technician and leader of the far-right Freedom Party. “As a representative of all Austrians I have the will and the well being of everyone in mind,” President Van der Bellen said in a tweet. When the Freedom Party joined the coalition in 2000, the European Union slapped sanctions on Vienna to protest the presence of the far-right in the birthplace of Adolf Hitler.
