According to a press release, the patient had experienced sudden abdominal pain and back pain for two days. He was referred to the department of vascular surgery at the Government Stanley Hospital, and arrived on November 8. The vascular surgery team, headed by G. Thulasikumar and comprising K. Elancheralathan, C. Shanmugavelayutham and B. Deephankumar, performed the surgery along with a team of anaesthesiologists. The surgery was performed under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, the release said.
