In the aftermath of GST, an estimated 15 lakh people have lost their jobs in the textile sector and losses to the tune of nearly Rs 40,000 crore have been reported across the country. Badal said the GST structure on textile violated all three core principles articulated by the Prime Minister - Make in India, employment generation and exports promotion. "It has created chaos and pandemonium in the textile sector," he alleged. "The central government has claimed a total GST collection of close to Rs 92,000 crore for the month of July. The Congress issued a statement explaining how the textile sector had been affected.
