Former Bayan Muna party-list representative Neri Colmenares on Monday asked Congress to scrutinize the progress of Dito Telecommunity Inc.”s operation. Dito is a consortium company composed of Udenna Corp., Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp., and China Telecommunications Corp. Although the telecom has been issued a permit to operate, Colmenares said Congress should prevent the entry of China in the Philippine telecommunications sector. “China poses a threat to the Philippines not only through its control of the energy grid, but even in the telecommunications sector. Congress has the power to grant franchises and also the power to withdraw these, especially if it poses a threat to the country and the Filipino people,” Colmenares said.
