The Shrimpers have stressed a decision has yet to be made regarding the position which was first advertised in mid-January. Gage has been the chief executive officer at the association of professional football analysis since January 2022 and had previously been director of football at Loudon United in Virginia, United States. Gage has also been director of football in the Canadian Premier League and head of performance analysis and technical recruitment at Houston Dynamo. Gage has also been head of performance at the University of Virginia but before moving to North America he was assistant first-team technical assistant with Sheffield Wednesday. Gage, who is from Sheffield, is the son of ex professional footballer Kevin who made more than 400 League appearances during his career which included spells at Aston Villa and Sheffield United.
